An Obvious Perspective

What are Affirmations?

OwenIf you are new to the practice of affirmations, an affirmation is defined simply as a positive statement used to reprogram your subconscious.  It is a declaration of the belief of an existence or truth of something.  This statement becomes an auto-suggestion to the mind.

Repetitive verbalization of your declaration or intention mobilizes one’s own resources towards the attainment of those goals as so stated.  The harnessing of the power of the subconscious mind is a form of self-hypnosis.  This, combined with the aspect of visualization, greatly accelerates one’s own healing abilities.

Affirmations should always be positive and in present form.  Example:  ”I am enjoying my healthy body”, “I breathe easily”, “My immune system is very strong”, etc.  Wording of an affirmation is very important.  The brain makes no distinction between a positive and negative suggestion.  For example, if one wants to lose weight, his/her statement should NOT be “I have lost weight”.  The brain can only perceive and accept it as “I have weight”.  Therefore, in such instance the recommended affirmation would be “I am happily exercising and enjoying my perfect bodyweight”.  The more positive the affirmation, the more effective it will be.

Affirmations must be stated daily - in upwards of ten times per day.  This programs the mind for success.
